Hi sorry that this is a very late update but we have been so busy the last week that we have not had time before now to write a new post. The weather in our area has been mostly wet the last couple of weeks with the occasional frost. We have had quite a bit of wind at times but this has been mild compared to other places around the country.
Since our last update we have been busy with family and friends and not really had much time to do anything. We have helped out a friend with some computer issues and got sorted out some software for their camera. They wanted to try shooting in raw as it gives much better results than jpeg but didn’t know how to go about this. We downloaded some software that would read the raw files and let them view and do basic adjustments to the raw file before transferring to another programme for final adjustments and saving. They were really happy with this until we tried to open a raw file and found we couldn’t, the camera isn’t supported by the programme. We now need to look into it a bit further to find an update or plug-in that will sort the problem out. This means that they will carry on shooting jpegs for now until we sort out this issue.
We have had car problems since the last updates with it throwing an engine management warning light up on the dash board. We phoned the dealer and they said that they could not look at it for a couple of days but not to drive it. This was not good as we needed to get into town to pick up some medication or we would run out. We contacted the lease company to see if something could be sorted out and after a lot of arguing it was agreed the RAC would come out and look at it to see if they could sort it out. When they arrived and looked at it the light was still on but the car was running fine, this meant that a diagnostic computer had to be plugged in. This showed a fault code of p1276 which after a phone call was tracked to a fuel filter problem or sensor. We were told it was only to be driven to the dealers and a loan car would be sorted out. Next day we phoned the lease company again and told them the verdict, they said that as the dealer had no loan car available, they would sort one out. A couple of hours later we were phoned and told they had refused the loan car, we were not happy. After ringing them back and speaking to a different person we had got a loan car agreed and we could drop ours off at the dealers and pick it up. The dealer said they would look at ours the next day and we could hopefully pick it up about midday. We then went off to get our medications, on arriving home we had a missed call from the dealer; on phoning them back we discovered that they had managed to fit our car in and it was all done and ready to be picked up. Back we went to the dealers and picked our car up, leaving the loan car there to be collected. We had let the loan car people know and they said it would be picked up the next day as it was too late by then to do so. We left the keys with the dealer for the loan car and finally made our way home in ours. It turned out it was a fuel filter error and they changed it for a new one; what a lot of hassle for such a small job.
We have also helped a family member move this week, they have downsized from a three bedroom house to a one bedroom bungalow. Having been planning this for some time, they had already got rid of a lot of access furniture and things. We were mainly driving the hire van as neither of them drive; we picked up a transit luton from the hire company early in the morning and drove to theirs, about an hours trip. When we got there, they were ready to make a start loading and had boxes etc stacked ready to be put on the van. I helped out with the lighter stuff, leaving the heavier boxes and large items to them and their helper. Within a couple of hours we had the first load packed and off to their new place, we worked as a team and managed to unload in about the same time. Back to the house for the rest of the stuff and we had this loaded up in no time, back again to unload and everything was moved in by around 2.30pm. It was then a quick load up of some rubbish from both places and down to the local dump before they shut. We made it and finished unloading the rubbish just as the dump was shutting at 4pm. After dropping them off at their new place we had one more task to do before going home. We had agreed to move a bed for another family member while we had the van, so off we went to pick it up and the deliver it for them. By the time we had finished we were tired out, as it had been a long day. We had left home at 7.30am and got back home at 9pm, without really stopping all day (Jon had supervised as he is not up to helping out any more).
We are considering shutting down this blog as after two years , we are finding it hard to find things to write about that may be interesting. We would welcome some views from our readers about what you might like to read/see on our blog if we do continue it. Thanks for reading our waffle.
That’s all for now, hope you all have a great Christmas and a happy new year.
